Why did you form HACEMOS?
HACEMOS was formed to foster an environment where people help each other to succeed professionally, personally, and in the community. In addition, HACEMOS provides a forum where employees can come together to discuss issues that affect and concern Hispanics.

Then this group is only for Hispanics?
No. Any active or retired employee of AT&T Communications, Inc. and its subsidiaries may join HACEMOS. In fact, the organization has many non-Hispanic who are members. Several employees are members who wish to learn more about the Hispanic culture. In addition, non-Hispanics have joined to learn and practice the Spanish language.

What’s in it for me?
1.      A CAREER PROGRESSION ROADMAP: On 1/30/04, a one-hour video-conference program was scheduled for HACEMOS members only. More than 10% of our membership participated in this program. I invited the AT&T Career Center to walk us through their website indicating the programs that are available to all AT&T employees (Management and Non-management). Feedback received was very positive, and many chapters contacted AT&T Career Center to schedule similar programs with their local chapters.

2.      MENTORING PROGRAM: Learn from the pros… the ones who can show you the ropes and share their recipe for a successful career at AT&T. This is an excellent program for you if you are interested in professional growth, and want to prepare for career advancement. St. Louis and Dallas successfully implemented their local Mentoring programs. Houston, Hoffmann, and San Ramon are in the process to implement theirs.

3.     SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT…: Your local VPO received a quarterly bulletin (for VPOs only) that features and highlights one topic to be presented to their local Members. Topics included: “Skills”, “Resume Writing”, “Interviewing Preparation”, “Public Speaking Skills”, “Careers”.

4.     NATIONAL & LOCAL NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES: Unique networking opportunities are available to all members: 1) At the national level, the International Annual Conference held every year in June. You can meet many AT&T Officers/Leaders/National HACEMOS Leaders, and fellow members from other AT&T regions/cities. 2) Fall/Spring Leadership Forums, you can meet AT&T Leaders and National HACEMOS Leaders, and fellow members from other AT&T regions/cities. 3) At the local level, your chapter offers activities, and events where you can meet local AT&T, City, Community, and HACEMOS leaders/local fellow members.

5.     LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES: You can learn, grow, shine and have others notice your talents by proactively participating/helping as a leader of local activities or running for local HACEMOS officer.
